THE STORY OF ALPORT CERAMICS
ABOUT ALPORT CERAMICS
Alport Ceramics was an idea born where the best ideas always seem to start - sat around a table of food with family.
My love for ceramics goes back to childhood, when my mum ran a pottery painting business in St Albans. I was always keen to get involved with every part of it (apart from the accounts!), and pottery painting has felt like home ever since.
In 2020, I relaunched Crafty Pots as Pottery Painting Kits, allowing customers to enjoy painting ceramics in the comfort of their own homes. With a studio set up in our garden, I started experimenting with bisque and speciality glazes, falling in love with the process of creating one-of-a-kind pieces.
Alport Ceramics officially began during the lockdowns, when I decided to turn my passion into a full-time business so I could spend more time at home with my young family. Today, I work from my beautiful garden studio - my oasis, surrounded by trees and our chickens - where I design and hand-paint each piece.
The name Alport comes from our home, which became our sanctuary during lockdown. It now symbolises both family and the spirit of home and homeware that runs through every piece I create.
I’m always dreaming up new products and playing with new ideas, and I feel incredibly lucky to call this my work.

MEET NICOLE
Hi, I’m Nicole - founder, maker, and creative mind behind Alport Ceramics.
Painting and playing with glazes, frit, and pottery is my therapy. I find real joy in hiding away in my garden studio, creating pieces that capture the calm and comfort of home, surrounded by trees and our noisy chickens.
When I’m not in the studio, you’ll find me with my two incredible girls. They have such a passion for life, and I love spending my free time with them - whether it’s exploring, making things, or just sharing the everyday magic of childhood.
I believe that the best pieces aren’t just beautiful - they carry a feeling of home, warmth, and story. I hope you find something here that brings a little of that into your home too.
